London gallery Studio Voltaire is staging a major Dennis Potter exhibition this autumn. The show is centred around new work by Turner Prize-nominated artist Hillary Lloyd. Running alongside will be a very well-chosen series of screenings of Potter's work, and an installation featuring his final 'Seeing the blossom' interview with Melvyn Bragg. The not-for-profit gallery, based in a former chapel building in Clapham, commissioned the work from Lloyd in-part prompted by a recognition that Potter would have been 90yrs old this year. From the earliest stages of the project Lloyd and the gallery team have been engaging with the widest range of people involved in one way or another with Potter's work from producers to  academics, actors to enthusiasts. The team have spent a significant amount of time in the Forest of Dean. As well as visiting locations important in Potter's biography, they also spent time seeking to understand the distinctive Forest community itself. Lloyd has also been exploring the Dennis Potter Archive held at the Dean Heritage Centre. Lloyd will also be staging an 'artist in residence' workshop in the Forest of Dean during the exhibition run.

Lloyd's exhibition itself at Studio Voltaire is a "layered installation combines audiovisual elements with archival materials and performative interludes, staging a non-linear encounter with Potter’s work for and on television. Engaging with the themes, confrontations and atmospheres that defined Potter’s work, the exhibition navigates his explorations of illness, death, sex, power and class."
The exhibition runs from 10th September 2025 - 11th January 2026.
