On June 29th 2013 at the Dean Heritage Museum in the Forest of Dean the local community gathered with scholars from around the UK to celebrate Potter and his work. The event marked the official launch of the newly installed archive and exhibition of this internationally significant figure. As well as talks by Potter experts there was music, food, dance, classic cars and a 1950′s fete. The ’50′s theme reflected an important time for both Potter and the Forest of Dean, as he was starting his writing and television career, and the spread of television into Forest homes marked the beginning of a national and global influence on the culture of this isolated corner of England. The event was supported attended by Potter’s family.
The seminar speakers were:
Professor John Cook, John Belcher, Dr Glenn Creeber, Dr David Rolinson, Dr Joanne Garde-Hansen, Hannah Grist, Laura Earley,
Jason Griffiths
