Rune Kuhl recently visited the UK coming from Denmark to the Forest of Dean to see the Dennis Potter Archive at the Dean Heritage Centre. As Rune explains in the video, the visit was also to see the place of Potter's roots, and inspiration and setting for some of his best work - Forest of Dean.
Long after the funded, busy part, the best projects continue having an impact. The Dennis Potter Heritage Project was a National Lottery-funded partnership between Dean Heritage Centre, University of Gloucestershire and Voices in the Forest community interest company. It did some great work in the community, and with schools - including the writing and production of 'Forest Heart' by Lakers School (present-day Five Acres High School) with Rural Media. It also established the Dennis Potter Archive and exhibition at DHC. Since then (2012-13) the archive has been visited by producers (eg. The White Hotel BBC Radio 4) scholars (eg. Prof John Cook The Country Boy: Investigating the Dennis Potter Archive) and artists (eg. Hillary Lloyd's exhibition Very High Frequency at Studio Voltaire). There's also been visits from overseas fans - to see the archives and the Forest of Dean. Staying in the area, eating out, using taxis and buses...just as Rune did.
